These courses were offered in Autumn 2015 as part of the EU funded SOLUTIONS project. Its overall mission is to support the uptake of innovative sustainable urban mobility solutions in Europe and other regions in the world, in particular in Asia, Latin America and the Mediterranean.

SOLUTIONS aimed to bridge the "implementation gap” between the potential of innovative sustainable mobility and transport solutions and packages of solutions and the actual level of up-take and quality of the deployment mechanisms.

This course aims at presenting solutions to the main problems of city logistics: traffic congestion, pollution and noise, labor and safety issues and, last but not least, enhancing the quality of urban transport services for the clients and the economy. The solutions proposed here have been described in 'SOLUTIONS training kit- Cluster 3 City logistics' available on the SOLUTIONS web site.

Many cities strive for a cleaner vehicle fleet in the city. Electric vehicles (EVs) are one of the favorite options, as they produce zero exhaust emission. This e-learning course will provide an introduction to EVs and provide guidance on how to increase the use of EVs in urban environments. Options to foster EV deployment and examples from cities around the world are provided.

This course consists of 6 units. It offers an overview of design of urban streets (sharing of road space) and the design for the cycling infrastructure improving the safety of infrastructure. We've tried to keep the course concrete and hands-on; each unit has a homework task that involves examining and researching your own local context or looking at examples from other places to see how they might apply to your context.

This course examines different aspects of multimodal journey planning and examples of what has already been achieved in Europe. Best practice cases provided here will give an impression of the state-of-the-art, and we will examine barriers that currently prevent full integration of all modes and across all borders. In this context it must be noted that multimodal information is only one part that makes up a fully integrated transport systems.

The purpose of the course is to introduce extending sustainable public transportation and develop the feasible measures for public transportation to meet the future needs through interactive.  Among the different measures for public transportation widely used in the world, in this course, we are going to explore two of them: BRT and Clean vehicles. Corresponding technology, cost-efficiency issues and relevant examples are discussed.

This course consists of 7 units. It offers an overview of the SUMP concept and its benefits, describes the ever-growing importance of SUMPs around the world, identifies some of the challenges of integrating individual innovative mobility measures into the larger context of an SUMP and offers suggestions to overcome those challenges. By the end of the course, you will have gained comprehensive and structured knowledge about the procedural elements of the SUMP cycle.
