SURF - Sustainable URban Freight
SURF (Sustainable URban Freight) project guides city planners, business leaders and other freight decision-makers to develop a vision and strategy pathway for sustainable freight. The project is a collaboration with Environmental Defense Fund Europe, one of the world’s leading non-profit organizations that is working to turn environmental solutions into action. Taking place between April and December 2021, the project will particularly focus on the design and implementation of Zero-Emission Zones for freight (ZEZ-Fs), which can dramatically reduce carbon emissions and contribute to healthier cities.
In the framework of capacity building activities, SURF project organises an e-course and a series of learning and peer-to-peer
activities, that are aimed to equip local and national policy makers,
practitioners, entrepreneurs, and operators with the skills and knowledge
required to develop, implement and operate ZEZ-F. The objective is to raise
awareness and establish long-lasting capabilities for all key stakeholders to
successfully support the transition to zero emission deliveries.
The course is primarily designed for city and regional authorities but aims to provide a solid knowledge basis for any stakeholder involved in urban freight operations. The course will be openly available to all the public. It is openly available to all the public.
