Institutional cooperation
There are many different potential cooperation partners when it comes to urban mobility.
1. Types of cooperation partners
Institutional cooperation is, simply put, collaborative work within and across organisations. Such cooperation may require the sharing of objectives, knowledge, resources or powers of consent among actors.
Institutional landscapes vary from city to city but any city developing an SUMP will likely have to address issues of vertical cooperation (i.e. with higher level authorities) and horizontal cooperation (i.e. between different organisations that are autonomous in relation to one another) as well as cooperation across sectors and across borders.
Several kinds of institutional cooperation to be aware of and taken into account are described briefly on the following pages.
