Scope of an MPTA
MPTAs come in various forms, with a wider or narrower scope with regard to urban mobility. Typical tasks are listed, and the case example of London is presented.
1. Typical tasks of an MPTA
Typical tasks of an MPTA include fare and information integration, including:
- Revenue allocation and settlement of an integrated fare scheme
- An integrated information system (internet, mobile, real time)
They can be responsible for railway transport management, but this may be also done at an upper level, as in the Lille case study.
MPTAs can be responsible for urban transport management, but this may also be done at the lower level, as in the German case studies.
The next page compares the German and French models to give a sense of how different approaches can lead to overall effective MPTAs.
