Looking at policy integration across policy areas.
1. Policy integration
This unit looks at policy integration in its various forms. The three types of integration that will be looked at here are sectoral integration, territorial integration and vertical integration.
This first section looks at examples of sectoral integration. That's to say looking across sectors to see how a policy relates with other sectors and whether it is consistent with or complementary to other policies. This could include, for example, land use and spatial planning, environmental protection, social planning, health, energy, economic development or gender equity. For example, a policy to improve public transport could be seen to address issues of gender equity since women are more regular users of public transport than men, just as policy to improve cycling can also be seen as supportive of public health policy goals.
