Integrating new transport measures into your city’s SUMP

Vertical integration looks at how policy fits into wider regional and national frameworks and how it conforms with relevant legislation at other levels of government (from the region all the way to the EU). Questions that should be addressed with regard to vertical integration include:

• Does the policy fit into a greater plan?
  
• Are there particular opportunities (or potential problems) with regard to regional, national or EU-level framework conditions?
• Does the policy depend on funding from a higher level of government? If so, how will this affect its implementation?
