Dear Gustavo, Thanks for sharing the Blog.
I belong to New Delhi, India and I graduated from Nagpur University with a degree in Architecture. Continuing my studies, I did my post graduate in Planning with specialization in Housing from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. I work in the arena of Sustainable Urban development and sustainable urban transport.
Delhi is a developing city and is world's most polluted city with increasing traffic congestion. hence, it is important to implement sustainable transportation practices and encourage people to use public transport.
Dear Gustavo, Thank you for sharing the article.
Namastey to everyone, My name is Dristy Shrestha. I live in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. I am pursuing my bachelors in Environment Studies from Tribhuwan University and recently, I am working for carfree.com which proposes that Carfree Cities can be the most sustainable model in terms of urban development with minimum financial and technical requirements.
I am also been working for a campaign entitled "KtmWalks" which promotes walking and cycling culture in the ancient core Kathmandu which is a medieval city build in pedestrian scale. In community consultation process for the core area vehicle-free campaign, the need of efficient transport system has also been highly realized.
The urbanization rate of Kathmandu is also growing so rapidly. The air pollution rate has also emerged as one of the biggest threats to residents in the valley. There has been various studies on the air quality of the valley which indicates that air quality fails to meet national and international standards owing to the high level of particulate matter in the air. It has been reported that the road transportation is the major source of pollution in the urban center of the Kathmandu Valley followed by other forms of domestic and commercial combustion. There has been heavily increase in traffic congestion with the widening of roads. Public Transport services are so poor, pedestrians and cyclist are given lesser priority. So, it is very important to implement energy efficient vehicles in our policies and sustainable modes of transportation for our daily mobility.
