Please post your responses to the following in the discussion forum.

  1. List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorised transport modes.
  2. To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:
  • the impact of walking or cycling measures on transport network performance
  • other environmental/social/economic impacts

  1. List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorised transport modes.

We have data from local statistics, including traffic counts and household surveys for the year 1990. and 2016.

     2. To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:

  • the impact of walking or cycling measures on transport network performance
  • other environmental/social/economic impacts

The data can be used for rough estimation.

For environmental impacts we have official statistics from Institte for public health for measurements of level of noise and air pollution.

It appears that if general data is collected then often it is too generic to be used for specific analyses. If project-specific data is generated then it seems to be a challenge to update and adjust it for other purposes.

Module 4.1: Overview

Task 6

1. List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorised transport modes.

Currently, there are no sources. The only information that we have comes from the elaboration of the SUMP in 2009.

2. To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:

·the impact of walking or cycling measures on transport network performance

·other environmental/social/economic impacts

Actually, that information does not provide much support. We use information coming from the Air Quality Network of Castile and León (Autonomous Community) and the National Institute of Statistics INE.

Until a few years ago (2014) when the first SUMP of Timisoara was ellaborated, there were no reliable data regarding the non-motorised transport modes. Then, there were used different sources (traffic counts, households surveys) to gather data. Now, there is a counting of those who use the bicycles from the bike-sharing system, that is made by the local public transport operator that run this system, but the data is incomplete, since the bike-owners are not counted. Regarding the pedestrians, there are no data.

  1. List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorised transport modes.

Data on cycle counts are available in real-time in Lyon since a few month : http://www.eco-public.com/ParcPublic/?id=3902#

You can see the data in real time or in the last month / years.

I don't know if other datas are available (no data on travel time fo cycle or pedestrians or on cycle congestion for example)

We have data on modal shares but only every 10 years and they're not very accurate to analyze evolutions of cycling and biking.

  1. To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:
  • the impact of walking or cycling measures on transport network performance
  • other environmental/social/economic impacts
Cycle counts can be used to analyze the number of cycles in the last month or years, and can be useful to see if cycling measures have an impact on the number of cycles. Other impacts are not really used.

  • List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorised transport modes.

There are established databases for non-motorised transport modes.

Even data for motorised transport modes is usually gathered in a as needed.

  1. List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorized transport modes.

Belgrade Transport Model - last update 2016 (complete suburban and local public transport network added), some data on walking, very few on cycling (mainly  ad hoc traffic counting data).

Census data from 2011 - Origin - destination matrices for employed and students, with modal split.

  1. To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:

These data is not enough for comprehensive analysis, maybe rough estimations.

  1. List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorised transport modes.
our data from local household surveys, traffic counts from  2016-17

      2. To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:

the walking data is used to some extend and the cycling data the less extend
The environmental impacts assessment of new road and junctions is been analysed and the usual recommendation are to implement physical measures to improve noise and air pollution to the set standards.  Sometime the environmental analysis change the road planing in order to improve the environmental results  .

1. List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorised transport modes.

traffic counts; household surveys; city bike data; European Cycling Challenge; all city GIS data; 2011 macro model; studies;

2. To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:

  • the impact of walking or cycling measures on transport network performance
  • other environmental/social/economic impacts

This information can be used, but it is not easy to assess.

List the sources of data currently available in your city related to non-motorised transport modes.

Only the SUMP have some data. There is a little website about the pedestrian problems in the city but the source is the press. https://es-la.facebook.com/atropelloenleon/

To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:

There are some climate/air stations in the city, that provide information to the Castille and León Air Quality http://servicios.jcyl.es/esco/index.action and Climate Agency (Aemet), https://www.aemet.es

None, no data about non-motorized transport is collected

To what extent do you think they can provide input to analyse:
Nothing at all
