Unit 2: your tasks

Task 1:

Think about the suburbanisation processes in your metropolis and try to find data on which areas have growing and which areas have decreasing population. Look at the following:

  • Are all areas with a growing population well connected to the city by public transport? Think about timetables, fares and information.
  • Which areas offer high quality of life and good transport connections?
  • Have any effective measures been introduced to encourage people to a sustainable choice of their place of residence?
  • Which areas around your city could offer high quality of life and good transport connections after some investments?

Please provide your responses in the forum under Unit 2: Background and context. Please upload a map of your city or region if it helps to explain your answers.

Task 2:

Are there any examples in your country of integrated transport fares – cases when you can use public transport of different operators or organised by different authorities – using one ticket? Do these have any other integrated measures (such as integrated schedules or other information)?

Please tell us about one of these cases in the forum under Unit 2: Background and context.
