Unit 2: your task

For this unit’s task, we ask you to think of road user charging systems that you have encountered – professionally or as a private person – and answer the following questions:

  • Has a road user charge been introduced or discussed your own city, or nearby cities in your region/country? If so, is it a cordon or area-based system? What was the goal for introducing it? Has it been successful?
  • If road user charging has not been introduced or discussed, why do you think this has not been considered as an option? If a road user charge were  implemented, which type of system do you think would be most relevant for your local context, and why?
  • Have you encountered road user charging systems elsewhere? Which type was it, and how well did it work (based on your observations)?

Please post your response in the forum under Unit 2: Background and context.
