About the Academy

Who we are

The Mobility Academy is coordinated by Rupprecht Consult – Forschung und Beratung GmbH, a fully independent private research and consultancy company, based in Cologne, Germany since 1996. We are a committed team of internationally experienced planners, researchers, educators, geographers, economists and environmental and social scientists that delivers quality services in the fields of urban and regional development, transport and mobility, environmental protection, information technologies and, generally, innovation to society.

Our philosophy

Our philosophy is that people learn best when what they learn is directly relevant to their local context. We believe that learning is most effective when ideas are exchanged and discussed with peers. This has the added benefit of spreading good practice examples (and lessons on things that didn't work so well). Our aim is to provide an open, friendly and flexible learning environment to help those working on sustainable urban mobility to create positive change in their own towns and cities. We do this by:

  • providing clear, concise, easy to understand information on sustainable mobility-related topics, links to relevant case studies, examples and other resources from across Europe and beyond;
  • offering courses with a moderated forum where participants can share, exchange and learn from one another;
  • building connections that can live on after courses have ended;
  • helping participants look at their local context critically, identify challenges and opportunities and apply information gained through course participation.

Costs

All Mobility Academy courses are currently offered as learning activities developed in the context of European research and innovation projects on sustainable mobility so as to share the insights and knowledge gained with a wide audience.The courses are free of cost to participants.

Timing

The amount of time a course takes depends both on the individual course and on the time you have to invest. In general, courses are moderated for a one-month period, with weekly homework tasks assigned. You can participate in courses on your own time (day or evening), communicating with the course moderator and other participants through the online forum.

Course materials are made available on the Mobility Academy after the moderated run-time so that others can still learn from them.
