Digitalizing E-Bus Projects (open access)

Welcome to the course!

This online course offers public transport utilities and practitioners detailed information on how to implement future ready e-bus projects with the latest digitation tools and services. It adopts a specific focus on the use of digital tools at three different stages of e-bus projects: planning & procurement, operations monitoring & management and project performance evaluation. It also considers the data sharing challenges that transit agencies experience with the operators and aims to provide potential approaches to deal with them. For more details contact Bonnie Fenton at b.fenton@rupprecht-consult.eu.

This fifth course of the SOLUTIONSplus Global Learning Programme on electric mobility aims to delve into the intricate relationship between e-mobility and the ongoing efforts to decarbonise our transportation systems, specifically focusing on the transportation of goods.

Throughout the course, we will provide an overview of the challenges associated with urban freight, honing in on last-mile logistics. This includes an exploration of current trends, challenges, influencing factors, and strategies for decarbonising freight operations in cities and urban environments. Additionally, the course will equip participants with knowledge about exemplary practices and real-world examples from SOLUTIONS+ cities and beyond.

The course is primarily tailored for city and regional authorities, but it offers valuable insights for any stakeholder engaged in electric mobility. It will be accessible to the public, extending beyond project demonstration cities and partners.
A key emphasis will be on providing guidance to cities and regions in developing countries that are in the initial stages of implementing sustainable urban freight solutions.
The kick-off webinar will provide key information and guidance about this e-course and the learning programme and the SOLUTIONSplus project.

The SOLUTIONSplus partners have been working with experts from POLIS, ALICE, ICLEIZaragoza Logistics Centre (ZLC), ULLC, EMT Madrid, and Wuppertal institute, to develop this new e-course.

The e-course will last from 16th of May until 30th June 2024.

The third e-course of the SOLUTIONSplus global learning programme on electric mobility aims to explore the relationship between e-mobility in the current pursuit to decarbonise our transport systems and establish a link with the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions and shared mobility or Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS). The course is designed for city and regional authorities but can provide a solid knowledge base for any stakeholder involved or interested in e-mobility, ITS and MaaS. The kick-off webinar will provide key information and guidance about this e-course and the learning programme and the SOLUTIONSplus project.

The SOLUTIONSplus partners have been working with experts from the MaaS AllianceERTICOHITRANSTransport for West MidlandsPOLISCity AblePluService SRLUITP, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of FinlandMobilityData and SWARCO, to develop this new e-course.

The e-course will last from 17th of January until 24th February 2023.

In many cities of the South, paratransit services represent an important share of the transport offer, if not the only one (especially in secondary cities and small cities). Despite the obvious benefits (provision of transport services at no cost for local authorities) current paratransit systems entail negative social and environmental effects such as low-quality of service, pollution, and GHG emissions. More and more actions and reforms aim to reform the sector by introducing new technologies and business modules. However, before introducing such reforms, it is first critical to consider context-based aspects such as the culture, the financial resources and limitations, and the complex set of stakeholders and power dynamics at the local level.

The fourth e-course of the SOLUTIONSplus global in electric mobility offers a comprehensive overview of these different topics, with the ambition to sensitize decision-makers, practitioners, experts, donor agencies, operators, and all types of stakeholders to the perspectives offered by the electrification of paratransit services as a lever to modernize and improve the sector while considering the specific characteristics of the paratransit industry in this process.

Here are some of the main questions raised within the e-course:

  • What are the main elements to consider when introducing electric vehicles in the paratransit sector?

  • How can e-mobility be used to enhance the integration of paratransit services in the urban mobility system?

  • How to raise awareness and sensitize decision-makers, paratransit operators, and stakeholders regarding the challenges and technicalities of e-mobility?

The second e-course of the SOLUTIONSplus global learning programme on electric mobility aims to provide a comprehensive course on the electrification of buses and thei rintegration in cities' public transport systems. The course is designed for city and regional authorities but can provide a solid knowledge base for any stakeholder involved or interested in e-mobility, e-buses, and public transport. the kick-off webinar will provide key information and guidance about the learning programme and the SOLUTIONSplus project.

In addition to the video lectures, the e-course will include material for self-study, assignments, and live virtual exchange sessions to accompany the course enabling interactive discussions with and among participants.

The Innovation Management e-course of the SOLUTIONSplus project aims to help Start-ups and SMEs in their journey to success. The course is designed to provide complete knowledge on how to build a successful business. The course targets most of the aspects that are needed to bring a product or service to the market and provides tools to stay in the market and grow.

The course has been developed with SOLUTIONSplus partners and experts, ICLEI, CODATU, UEMI, Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC), PluService, UN-Habitat, Valeo, Global Green Growth Institute, FIER and ERTICO.

The e-course will start on the 2nd of March for the Start-ups in the SOLUTIONSPlus project and will be publicly available in May (2023) for all the innovators interested.

The first course of the SOLUTIONSplus global learning programme on electric mobility aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to electric mobility planning and implementation in local contexts.
The course is primarily designed for city and regional authorities, but can provide a solid knowledge base for any stakeholder involved or interested in electric mobility.

In addition to lectures and material for self-study, a kick-off webinar gives key information and guidance about the learning programme and the SOLUTIONSplus project. Virtual exchange sessions are scheduled to accompany the course enabling interactive discussions with and among participants.
